The Demonstration of a Tumor Growth-inhibiting Factor from Normal Human Connective Tissue
نویسندگان
چکیده
Extracts from fresh normal human connective tissue (rectus sheath) exhibited a decided inhibiting action on grafts of Rat Tumor 256 transplanted into test animals. There was complete inhibition of tumor growth in 66 per cent of the animals; there was a marked retardation in the rate of growth in another 15 per cent, the tumors in these instances being much smaller than the controls transplanted at the same time. In only one experiment was there failure to obtain a lasting growth-inhibitory effect. The tumors in these animals (19 per cent) although showing an initial retardation in growth, apparently overcame the restraint and at the end of 5 weeks were larger than the control series. Extracts from fresh normal human muscle tissue, on the other hand, showed no such inhibiting action on grafts of Rat Tumor 256.

Background: The Connective Tissue Growth Factor (CTGF) gene encoding an extracellular matrix (ECM)-associated protein and as a member of the CCN family of proteins plays a major role in fibrosis, inflammation and connective tissue remodeling in a variety of diseases including cancer. The CCN proteins are multifunctional and are involved in cell proliferation, adhesion and cell development durin...

Background: Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) are multipotent cells able to differentiating into a variety of mesenchymal tissues including osteoblasts, adipocytes and several other tissues. Objectives: Differentiation of MSCs into fibroblast cells in vitro is an attractive strategy to achieve fibroblast cell and use them for purposes such as regeneration medicine. The goal of this s...
متن کاملP-24: In Vitro Growth and Apoptosis Incidence, valuation of in Vitrified Human Ovarian Tissue Following Treatment with Growth Differentiating Factor 9B (GDF- 9B) and Leukemia Inhibitory Factor (LIF)
Background The conventional freezing and vitrification are different cryopreservation protocols for fertility preservation in cancer patients. The high effectiveness of vitrification for human oocytes and embryos is shown, whereas data on human ovarian tissue are limited. Follicular growth, ultrastructure, and apoptosis incidence in human ovarian tissue following vitrification/warming and after...
